After busting illegal casinos in sports clubs at the capital’s Motijheel, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is now raiding spa centres in the city’s upscale neighbourhood of Gulshan.
Raids have been carried out at three spa centres at the Navana Tower building near the Gulshan-1 intersection.
The spa centres are — Lifestyle and Health Club, Resident Salon and Spa, and Mango Spa.
"We raided three spa centres in Navana Tower based on complaints that those were running prostitution business also," Deputy Commissioner Sudip Kumar Chakrabarty of DMP’s Gulshan zone.
He said drive would continue in other such spa centres gradually.
According to police, the raids came on intelligence inputs of sex trade thriving in the massage parlours and spa centres.
Law enforcers said 16 women and 3 men have been found detained during the raids.
