Single digit interest needed for entrepreneurship

Single digit interest rate is an important component to entrepreneurship development in the country, said Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi.
He made the comment at a talk on “Journey of Innovators and Entrepreneurs” at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban at Dhaka University Sunday.
The programme was organised by Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship (ICE) Center of Dhaka University, says a press release.
The minister emphasized the importance of an effective partnership and efforts between “government-universities-industries-development partners.
He said the development of communication technology is one of the most crucial factors behind the spur of the new entrepreneurs and future entrepreneurs should take the advantages and opportunities of the technology.
The minister launched two initiatives of ICE titled “National Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship (NICE) Idea Competition 2019” and Workshop on “Entrepreneurship Development”.
President of MCCI Nihad Kabir said that a disruptive change is needed in the entire education sector to tackle the challenges from technological advancement including fourth industrial revolution.
Kabir said that the aspirant innovators and entrepreneurs should start the initiatives and break the ice instead of waiting for policy support.
President of DCCI Osama Taseer said becoming an entrepreneur requires a strong mindset, and highlighted the importance collaboration between different stakeholders for an effective entrepreneurial environment.
Executive Director of ICE Center Md Rashedur Rahman mentioned that we need to prepare profile of successful Bangladeshi innovators and entrepreneurs whose life and journey will inspire the aspirant next generations.
Chairman of Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Professor Dr Zeba Islam Seraj, Honorary Professor, Department of Biomedical Physics Dr Khandakar Siddik-e-Rabbani, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Barrister Shah Ali Farhad, Founding Chairman of Department of Organization Strategy and Leadership Professor Dr Muhammad Abdul Moyeen, and Supernumerary Professor Dr. Khondakar Bazlul Haque also spoke on the occasion.
