A fire erupted at the Dhaka’s Karwan Bazar, one of the largest wholesale kitchen markets, on Wednesday.
It took nine fire-fighting units nearly 30 minutes to tame the flames, which broke out around 5:15pm.
The fire left two tin-shed buildings, one of them housing a restaurant, completely burnt.
“We noticed flames bursting from a cooking gas cylinder, but is still unknown how it started,” fire service Assistant Director Mamun Mahmud said.
Nur Mohammad, who runs a business in the area, said, the same place caught fire at least four times in the past. “However, this is time it did not get big.”
