Police deactivate two bomb like devices in Dhaka

The object was deactivated around 3am on Wednesday (Jul 24) after it was left near the Khamarbari traffic police box.Bomb disposal unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has deactivated bomb like objects at Khamarbari and Paltan area in the capital.

The objects were deactivated around 3am on Wednesday (Jul 24) after it was left near the Khamarbari traffic police box, said police.

Earlier, around 11pm on Tuesday (Jul 23), another such device was deactivated near the Paltan traffic police box.

Several witnesses say that during controlled explosion, both objects created enormous noise with splinters spreading wide.

DMP Deputy Police Commissioner Pralay Kumar Joardar said: "The evidence of the objects were sent to the lab to get more information; this may have been done to create panic among the masses.”

 “Police members saw a carton in front of Shahbagh police station; suspecting explosives, they called the bomb disposal unit,” said Shabagh police OC Abul Hasan.

"The object in Khamarbari was noticed at 9pm Tuesday but was deactivated at 3am Wednesday; the other object was noticed by the Paltan police box at 11pm Tuesday," added OC Hasan.
