Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a man posing to be a police assistant sub-inspector in possession with Tk 2.7 million in Dhaka.
Thirty-eight-year old Kabir Hossain was detained from the capital’s Hatirjheel area on Sunday (Jul 14), the elite force said in a statement on Monday (Jul 15).
A team of RAB-3, posted on a check post on the Hatirjheel bridge no. 3, intercepted a car on Sunday night. The driver identified himself as ASI (special branch) before he started to speak suspiciously, reads the statement.
Later, RAB searched the vehicle and recovered the money along with seven passports, and four mobile phones, it adds.
The man, however, couldn’t provide satisfactory answers on the passports during interrogation.
Legal action would be taken against him after he would be handed over to the capital’s Rampura police, according to the statement.
