Khandaker Enamul Basir FILE PHOTOThe Anti Corruption Commission has summoned one of its directors for questioning for the second time over a Tk 4 million bribe allegation.
ACC Director Enamul Basir, now sacked, has been ordered to present its headquarters in the capital’s Segunbagicha on Jul 10, ACC legal counsel Kamal Hossain told Bangla Tribune on Monday (Ju1 24).
Earlier on Jun 24, the graft watchdog summoned Basir along with suspended deputy inspector general Mizanur Rahman over the bribe allegation and asked them to appear at its office on Jul 1.
Basir, however, skipped the quizzing session citing health issues while Mizan showed personal reasons.
Last year, the ACC launched a probe into the wealth of DIG Mizan, after he was relieved of duties following allegations of torturing a woman.

On Jun 10, the ACC suspended the-then investigator, its director Basir, for leaking the probe report to DIG Mizan.
Before that, DIG Mizan alleged that Basir took Tk 4 million in bribe in exchange of probe report.
On Jun 13, ACC, too, formed a probe panel, led by Deputy Director Sheikh Md. Fanafilya, over DIG Mizan’s allegation on bribing Basir.
On Jun 20, a Dhaka court ordered to confiscate assets and freeze bank accounts of DIG Mizan.
On Jun 24, ACC filed a case against DIG Mizan and three of his family members for amassing the illegal wealth of TK 32.8 million.

On Jul 1, police arrested DIG Mizan following a High Court order.
