The Bangladesh Standard Testing Institution (BSTI) says tests have found nothing 'hazardous' in 14 brands of pasteurized milks available in the market and concludes them as safe for consumption.
On Tuesday (Jun 25), the standard regulator submitted its report on the test on the pasteurized milks to a High Court bench consisted of justices Syed Refaat Ahmed and Md Iqbal Kabir in line with a previous court order.
Brands those are not susceptible to the risk are Pura, Iron, Aarong Dairy, Farm Fresh Milk, Mo, Milk Vita, Aftab, Ultra, Tania (200ml and 500ml), Igloo, Pran Milk, Dairy Fresh, Milk Fresh and Cowhead Pure Milk.
On May 20, 2018, lawyer Tanvir Ahmed filed a writ petition following a HC order after media reports on unsafe pasteurized milks were brought into its attention.
Later, the HC ordered food ministry to form an expert panel to run the test on all pasteurized milks brands and file a report to it.
On the day, the court set Jun 27 for next hearing on the petition.
