CID to press charges against 125 in DU question paper leak

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has made a charge sheet of the much talked about question paper leak case of Dhaka University. The charge sheet accuses 125 persons, including 87 students.
Work is also underway to assess the information about 79 other persons and once their names and addresses are found, a supplementary charge sheet will be issued, say CID officials.
CID officials add: the incident came out in the open on Oct 19, 2017, and based on information provided by the media, CID began investigation and later, arrested two persons, Mamun and Rana.
Based on the information provided by them, another examinee called Rafi was arrested from the test hall. The investigating officials say that the syndicate used to leak questions from the printing press.
Reportedly, the syndicate consists of a sports official from Natore called Rakibul Hassan, press worker Khan Bahadur, a student of Rajshahi University called Bonny and others.
At that time, 47 persons were arrested and all of them gave confessional statements to court leaving only one. CID officials say: the question leaking syndicate used to collect questions from the printing press and on the night before the exam, examinees were made to memorize the answers.
They also supplied answers via digital device, moments before the exam.
CID officials admitted that while they managed to identify people involved in the press, they had to face trouble tracking down the digital devices.
Reportedly, the mastermind of the group is BKSP’s assistant director, Alip Kumar Biswas.
CID also found that those involved has amassed huge wealth, ranging up to Tk 200 million.
All the property of those involved was impounded and a case is currently running.
