An Awami League supporter has been shot dead by assailants in Rajbila union in Bandarban.
The deceased is Qi Ching Thoai, 27, son of Tai Thoai from Rajbila union.
The incident occurred in the rubber garden -4 area around 1:30am on Sunday (May 19).
Rajbila Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Qi Angpur said: “Qi Ching’s elder brother is the vice president of Awami League ward 5, and the assailants came in search of him.”
“Abducted businessman Qi Ching and shot him dead in the rubber garden. the assailant group has not been identified,” he said.
Officer in Charge (investigation) of Bandarban Sadar police station Md Enamul Haq Bhuiya said: “On information, we sent a team to the area.”
Earlier this month, two more members of the Chittagong Hill Tract’s Jana Samhati Samiti (JSS) were killed, and one other was abducted. These recent deaths have spread fear among locals, leaders and politicians living in the hill tract areas.
