The University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved a budget of Tk 80.85 billion for country’s 45 public universities in 2019-2020 fiscal.
The commission approved the budget at its 155th full-commission meeting held at UGC on Monday (May 6) with its chief Professor Abdul Mannan in the chair, said a press release.
Dhaka University got the highest revenue budget allocation Tk 7.65 billion while Sylhet Medical University got Tk 36 million. Sylhet Medical University for the first time included in the budgetary allocation.
Besides, the meeting also approved Tk 509.7 million for UGC in 2019-2020 fiscal.
The meeting also approved the revised budget of Tk 48.35 billion for the universities and Tk 490.3 million for UGC for 2018-2019 fiscal.
The commission approved Tk 644 million for research in 2019-2020 fiscal while the figure was Tk 623.6 million in the last fiscal.
