The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police will probe suspicions of money laundering over the murder of Feni Madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi.
“Allegations of monetary transaction related to the murder have come up,” CID Superintendent Sharmin Jahan told Bangla Tribune on Friday (Apr 19).
She added that CID’s organised crime unit will investigate the source of the money to find out if there was any money laundering involved.
Nineteen-year-old Nusrat was set on fire on Apr 6, the day of her Alim exam, for refusing to lift sexual assault charges against now withdrawn madrasa principal Siraj-ud-Daula.
She died of extensive burn injuries on Apr 10 at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital Burn Unit.
PBI has arrested 18 people so far and three have already confessed that they carried out the attack at the behest of Siraj.
