Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the issue of Teknaf municipality councilor Ekramul Huq’s death in a ‘gunfight’ with RAB on May 26 will be investigated.
He made the comment Friday evening after attending an Iftar programme at Channel I building at Tejgaon in the capital.
Kamal said, “A magistrate will investigate into the issue. If he concludes that something illegal occurred during the gunfight we will take action according to law.”
In reply to a query, he said, “The information we have so far about the incident indicates nothing like that. We, however, will look into what his wife is saying.”
The ongoing anti-narcotics campaign will stop after the abuse of drugs is stopped, he said.
