Arrest warrant for Khaleda over slandering Bangabandhu

Khaleda Zia (File Photo)A Dhaka court has issued an arrest warrant against BNP chief Khaleda Zia in a case filed over slandering Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and making derogatory comments against the Awami League.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ziaur Rahman passed the order on Wednesday (Mar 20), Abul Kalam, who is the plaintiff in the case, told Bangla Tribune.

On Jun 30, the investigative officer of the case, Shahbag police Inspector Jafar Ali Biswas filed the probe report.

Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad President A B Siddiqui lodged the case on Jan 25, 2017, against the former premier for making derogatory comments against Awami League and Bangabandhu at a programme held on Dec 31, 2016.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda is already serving 17-year jail term in Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases.
