Khaleda not being moved from jail: BSMMU

BSMMU Director Abdullah Al HarunIncarcerated BNP chief Khaleda Zia will not be taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Sunday (Mar 10), said the hospital authorities.

“The prison authorities have informed us that Khaleda Zia won’t be shifted today,” BSMMU Director Abdullah Al Harun told the media on Sunday afternoon before adding that they had taken all preparations.

“The medical board formed for Khaleda Zia’s treatment went to the old Dhaka prison to see her. She was supposed to be brought here for checkup,” he said.

Pro BNP doctors’ forum DAB Convener Dr Farhad Halim Doner said, “Khaleda Zia is extremely ill. Dr FM Siddiqui, a doctor of her medical board went to see her and he said that she must be treated under specialist doctor in United Hospital. It’s not a must that she must be treated in PG.”

Earlier on Sunday BSMMU Director Harun told Bangla Tribune that the BNP Chairperson is likely to be shifted there.

Three-time premier Khaleda, has been serving a total of 17 year jail term at the Old Dhaka jailhouse for her involvement in the Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases.
