Bangladesh origin British couple is elected as councilors in London local election.
Asma Begum was elected from Bow East ward while her husband from Saint Peters ward of Tower Hamlet Borough, where a large number Bangladeshis live. Both of them got nomination from the Labour party.
Later, newly elected mayor John Biggs chose Asma Begum to become deputy mayor, responsible for community safety and equalities.
There are hailed from Gopalganj Upazila in Sylhet.
