A petition has been filed with the High Court challenging the candidacy of Dhaka-17 Awami League aspirant Akbar Hossain Pathan (Farooque) on the grounds of bank loan default.
Farooque’s contestant from the same constituency BJP chief Andaleeve Rahman, who is contesting with his ally BNP’s polls logo paddy sheaf, filed the plea on Monday, said his lawyer Barrister Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal.
Earlier getting the nomination, Farooque filed a writ petition with HC to get rid of loan default but the court was yet to pass a verdict on it.
A High Court bench is likely to hear the matter on Wednesday (Dec 26).
