Combination of photos shows Saiful Alam (left) and Farida Yasmin. FACEBOOKThe panel, led by Daily Jugantar’s Saiful Alam and Farida Yasmin of the Daily Ittefaq, swept the National Press Club polls on Tuesday (Dec 18), clinching 13 out of 17 posts in the executive committee.
Saiful, who got 621 votes, was elected president while Farida the general secretary with 569 votes, beating their nearest rivals Shawkat Mahmud with 431 votes and Ilias Khan with 406 votes respectively.
Omar Farroque was elected senior vice present with 442 votes while Azizul Islam Bhuiyan vice president with 554 votes.
The other office-bearers of the 17-member executive committee are Joint Secretaries Shahed Chowdhury and Mainul Alam, Treasurer Shaymal Dutta and members Kuddus Afrad, Shahmsuddin Ahmed Charu, Rezwanul Haque Raza, Shahnaz Begum, Sanaul Haque, Kalyan Saha, Jahiduzzaman Farroque, Syed Abdal Ahmed, Bakhtiar Rana and Hasan Arefin.
Voting in the election was held between 9am and 5pm without any break.
