A group of assailants have killed a Chhatra League leader and injured another in the capital’s Banani.
The ruling party’s Banani 19 no ward unit president 28-year-old Rakib Hasan was attacked by the assailants on Thursday night at Mohakhali’s T&T Colony area under Banani Thana.
Nur Islam was also injured in the incident.
Police said that a group of assailants knifed Rakib Hasan and Nur Islam Mohakhali’s T&T Colony area and flee from the scene. Locals rushed the victims to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where Rakib was declared dead around 1am on Friday.
The body has been kept at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said the hospital’s police camp Sub-Inspector Md Baccu Mia.
“Nur Islam has been treated at the hospital,” he added.
Banani police Inspector Sawhan Oliullah said that they are trying to identify and arrest the killers.
