BNP leader Nipun Roy Chowdhury was arrested near the party headquarters a day after the Naya Paltan clash.

A court in Dhaka has denied bail to BNP Central Executive Committee members Nipun Roy Chowdhury and Arifa Sultana Ruma in a police case filed over clashes in front of the party’s Naya Paltan headquarters.
On Tuesday (Dec 4), it also turned down police’s plea seeking seven day remand each for the suspect and ordered the investigator to question them at the prison’s entrance for one day.
The two were arrested on Nov 15 a few hundred yards away from the BNP’s Naya Paltan offices, a day after BNP activists clashed with police when at least 20 law enforcers and 50 others were injured.
At least two police vehicles were set to fire during the mayhem. Police started three cases over the incident, which is being investigated by the Detective Branch.
