A drone was seen flying over the BNP Naya Paltan office on two occasions on Thursday.

It was being operated from the roof of Scout Building, opposite of the BNP headquarters, according to witnesses.

They said the drone was flown for 12 minutes from 3:08pm to 3:20pm on Thursday triggering panic and fear among BNP activists present there at the time.

According to BNP activists, police may have used the drone on Wednesday as well to observe the situation following the clash with police.

Bangla Tribune photo journalist Sazzad Hossain reported from the scene that the drone was being operated from the roof of Scout Building.

“It wasn’t clear who were operating it, however, three police officers were seen operating it when I zoomed in,” he said.

A top DMP official told Bangla Tribune that it could have been used to monitor the situation from a distance.

“Clashes erupted yesterday. It’s police’s responsibility to ensure security of the masses. It could have been used for the sake of public security,” said official on condition of anonymity.
