Poet Proshanta Mridha bagged the prestigious Gemcon Literary Awards 2018 at the Eighth Dhaka Literary Festival on Friday (Nov 9).
Member of Parliament and Director of Gemcon Group, Kazi Nabil Ahmed announced him as the winner at the award ceremony that took place on the second day of the Dhaka Lit Fest at Bangla Academy.
Proshanta received the award for his collection of poems ‘Dugdugir Ashor’ and was given a crest, certificate, books and a cheque for Tk 800,000.
On the other hand, Hamim Kamal won the Gemcon Young Literature Award 2018 and took home Tk 50,000, crest, certificate, and books.
Young poet Hassan Nayeem bagged the Gemcon Poetry Award 2018 and won Tk 100,000 along with books, a crest and a certificate.
Kazi Nabil Ahmed handed over the prize to the winners saying, “Gemcon is grateful to the winners for receiving the awards.”
“It is a difficult job to do every year and the winners are chosen with the agreement of the jury board,” he added.
