Another batch of 80 workers has returned from Saudi Arabia.
“A flight of Saudi Airlines, carrying the workers, landed at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shajalal International Airport on Wednesday,” said an official of the expatriate ministry’s 'Probashi Kalyan Desk'.
One of the workers Ainul Islam told Bangla Tribune, “Saudi police sent them back from a jail in Damman.”
The Kingdom’s police have been arbitrarily detaining the foreign workers, mostly from Asian countries despite having work permit, claimed Islam, who hails from Tangail district.
“My akama (work permit) is valid till December but the police sent me home,” said another worker Nazrul Islam, who hails from Narail district.
With Wednesday’s arrival, the Kingdom sent back 558 male workers in total this month, according to 'Probashi Kalyan Desk'.
