A political party has moved the High Court seeking an order to stay the announcement for polls schedule until it gets registered with the Election Commission (EC).

The petition by ‘Insaniyat Biplob Bangladesh’ also pleaded for issuing rule asking why it will not be registered as a political party as well as why the EC’s Jun 11 letter turning down its application would not be declared illegal.

Supreme Court lawyer Yunus Ali Akhand filed the a petition on Thursday, which also sought an order to freeze the announcement of schedule for the general election until the party is registered with the EC.

The bench of Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Ashraful Kamal is expected to hear the matter on Oct 14, Akhand told Bangla Tribune
