Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) is planning to hold a discussion on the number of vehicles individuals should own aimed at setting a bar on it, Mayor Sayeed Khokon said.
He made the remark on Saturday while addressing a rally organized at the Capital’s Manik Mia Avenue on the occasion of the “World Car Free Day”.
Khokon said, “In the next coordination meeting we will discuss with the stakeholders on limiting number of personal vehicles.”
Giving an example of individuals owning multiple vehicles, he said, “There are families that own five vehicles for their three members. We will work towards determining if it can be controlled.”
Speaking as the chief guest at the rally, Khokon also said, “Disorder on our roads in one of the key issues at present. A panel, formed by the Prime Minister, is working to bring order to our streets”
“Our panel will work with the aim of bringing back order on our roads within the next two years and we can make it happen,” he added.
