Fuad Zaman, son in law of Bangabandhu killer, Sultan Shahriar Rashid KhanA court has granted police three days in custody to grill Fuad Zaman, son-in-law of Bangabandhu murder convict Sultan Shahriar Rashid over slandering the nation’s founding father on the social media.
Zaman was arrested on Wednesday for pejorative comments on Facebook.
He was produced in a Dhaka court on Thursday when police pleaded for a seven-day remand.
Metropolitan Magistrate Kaisarul Islam granted three days in a case filed under the ICT Act with the Dhanmondi Police.
Counterterrorism Unit’s Cyber Crime division arrested Zaman late on Wednesday night from Dhaka’s Hatirjheel area.
Senior counterterrorism officer Nazmul Islam said he was arrested for posting pejorative comments about Bangabandhu on Facebook.
Zaman was arrested on Wednesday (Sept 12) night from the Hatirjheel area. CTTC deputy commissioner, Nazmul Islam, said he was arrested for posting pejorative comments about Bangabandhu on Facebook.He has been booked under the ICT Act, said the deputy police commissioner.
Bangabandhu murder convict Rashid was executed on Jan 27, 2010.
In 2011, Zaman and his wife Shehnaz Rashid were arrested from Dhanmondi with cash on them which police said was drug money.
Rashid’s other daughter Mehnaz was arrested in 2009 on charges of conspiring to assassinate ruling MP Fazle Nur Taposh.
