Bail denied to 12 pvt university students

Representational ImageDhaka court turned down bail pleas of 12 private university students on charge of vandalism and attacking law enforcers during student protests demanding safer roads.
On Thursday, Metropolitan Magistrate Laskar Sohel Rana denied bail to the students in two cases started by police in Dhaka’s Badda and Bhatara.
The students are - Shakhawat Hossain Nijhum, Shihab Shahriar, Saber Ahmed Ullas, Ajijul Karim Antar, Rashedul Islam, Md Hasan, Mushfikur Rahman, Redwan Ahmed, Reza Refat Ahmed, Shimanta Sarker, Iftekher Hossain and Masad Mortuza Bin Ahad.
The students of seven private universities -- East West, North South, Southeast, Brac, Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB), International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) and Asian University of Bangladesh -- were arrested on Aug 6 following clashes between students and police in Bashundhara Residential area, Bhatara and Rampura.
