Crackdown against graft to continue: Home minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan attended a mock parliamentary debate organised by cultural body ‘Debate for Democracy’ at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) auditorium on Saturday (Oct 19).The government will continue with its crackdown against corruption in a bid to establish good governance, says Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan.
Speaking to the media on Saturday (Oct 19) after attending an event in Dhaka, he said, “We are not focusing on any specific sector rather targeting overall corruption. Raids and drives are conducted soon after irregularities are reported from anywhere.”
The minister attended a mock parliamentary debate organised by cultural body ‘Debate for Democracy’ at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) auditorium.
Addressing the audience, Khan said the prime minister has emphasised on some specific issues in her mission to establish good governance.
“Not only casino or tender manipulation, all kinds of irregularities will be addressed. She [the prime minister] has dealt with militancy and terrorism. And in this term, her goal is good governance,” he added.
Empahsising on continue the crackdown against graft, the home minister urged the citizens for their cooperation.
“The law enforcing agencies are being revamped to ensure sustainable security for good governance,” said Khan.
Describing the killing of BUET student Abrar Fahad inside his dormitory as ‘unfortunate’, he said, “The perpetrators have been held. They were too bright students, but we never imagined that they could be brainwashed like this. Investigators have been ordered to file the charges as soon as possible.”
