Four reasons for patients going abroad for treatment: MinisterHealth Minister Mohammad Nasim said four reasons are contributing a portion of patients in Bangladesh to go abroad for treatment.
“It includes financial affordability, tendency to take foreign treatment, health tourism and in some cases, lack of adequate number of physicians,” Nasim told the House on Thursday.
On the government’s manures to reduce the tendency to take foreign treatment, the minister said, “All medical college, specialized and general hospitals across the country have been equipped with state-of-art machineries and providing better treatment.”
Patients from other countries have been receiving treatment in modern hospitals of the country’s private sector here, he said before adding the government is working on formulating a policy on Bangladesh’s patients receiving treatment abroad.
The government has appointed 13,666 physicians including 427 dental surgeons and 26,659 employees on vacant posts of third and fourth grades in the health sectors over the past nine years, Nasim informed the parliament.
