Dhaka, Delhi visa regime to be further relaxedVisa regime between Bangladesh and India will be further relaxed for the easy and smooth movement of the people of the two countries.
Both the governments are ready to revise the Revised Travel Arrangements (RTA) between Dhaka and New Delhi, when Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Bangladesh from Jul 13 to 15.
A senior government official said, at present both governments issue multiple-entry student visas for two years, but it will be extended to three years.
This is not the first time RTA is being revised, he said.
RTA was first signed in 2001 and it was drastically revised to ease the visa regime in 2013.
Since then, several relaxations were made like extension of multiple-entry medical visas to one year or five-year multiple-entry visa for citizens over 65 years, the official said.
Another official said a memorandum of understanding is scheduled to sign on cooperation between the police of the two countries during the Indian minister’s visit.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Rajnath will have a bilateral meeting on Jul 14 and the same day he will call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The next day Rajnath will fly to Rajshahi to witness the signing of Mou on police cooperation.
