As many as 1,929 people have been hospitalised with dengue-related fever across Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Dengue, a mosquito-borne virus, spreads among humans through its carrier Aedes mosquito.
The number of patients currently undergoing treatment at government and private hospitals now stands at 7,570, says a DGHS statement on Thursday (Aug 15).
Of them, 3,910 patients are receiving treatment at 40 government and private hospitals in Dhaka and another 3,660 are outside the capital, it adds.
As of Aug 15, as many as 48,280 people have been affected by dengue since Jan 1.
Among those admitted, a total of 40,670 have been released from their respective hospitals and clinics after treatment.
As many as 40 people have died from dengue across Bangladesh since Jan 1 this year, according to official estimates while the unofficial counts show death toll nears 90.
