PM leaves London for home

Sheikh Hasina. FOCUS BANGLA/file photoPrime Minister Sheikh Hasina left London for home Wednesday (Aug 7) afternoon (London time) wrapping up her official visit to the United Kingdom (UK).
“A Biman Bangladesh Airlines VVIP flight carrying the prime minister and her entourage departed from Heathrow International Airport in London for Dhaka at 6:55pm (London time),” PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told BSS over phone from London.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Saida Muna Tasneem saw the premier off at the airport.
The flight is scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka early on Thursday (Aug 8).
Sheikh Hasina went to London on Jul 19.
During her stay there, the premier attended the Bangladeshi envoys’ conference on Jul 20.
Commonwealth Secretary General Patricia Scotland QC and Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon separately called on Sheikh Hasina in the British capital.
On Jul 22, the prime minister underwent a successful surgery in her left eye at a London hospital, the press secretary said.
