No tax, duty on dengue test kit imports

Lab technician tests presence of dengue virus in blood sample at a hospital in Dhaka. VCG via CHINA DAILYAmid the worst dengue outbreak in the country, the government has withdrawn all kind of taxes and duties on dengue test kits, dengue reagent test kits for platelet and plasma in blood.
In a circular on Monday (Aug 5), the Internal Resources Division said that the provision will be applicable for importing test kits approved by the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) till Aug 31.
The drug administration will monitor the quality of the kits being imported into the country.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 2,065 new dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country.
The number of admitted patients currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals combined is 7658, according to the latest figures by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Since Jan 1, a total of 27,437 people have been affected by dengue.
Among those admitted, a total of 19,761 have been released from their respective hospitals and clinics after treatment.
