BGB-BSF DG level talks begin in Dhaka

COURTESYThe 48th Director General-level talks between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has begun in Dhaka.
The curtain of the conference was raised at 11.45am at BGB headquarters in the capital’s Pilkhana on Wednesday (Jun 12)
The conference agendas include incidents of shooting at unarmed Bangladeshi civilians along the border of two nations, smuggling of arms, ammunition, drugs, detention of Bangladeshis, infiltration into Bangladesh, protection of banks of rivers along the border and taking necessary steps to further increase mutual trust between the two frontier forces.
The three-day talks will conclude with signing a Joint Record of Discussions (JRD) on Jun 15.
BGB DG Major General Md Shafeenul Islam is leading lead a 24-member Bangladesh delegation, including representatives from Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the conference.
BSF DG Rajni Kant Mishra is leading a 10-member Indian delegation including BSF senior officials and representatives from Indian home and foreign ministries.
Besides, an eight-member delegation BSF Wives Welfare Association (BWWA) was set to visit different activities conducted by Shimanto Poribar Kalyan Samity (SPKS) of BGB.
The BSF delegation will leave Dhaka for India on Jun 15.
