Biman’s Delhi flights resume Monday

A general view of a Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ aircraft.Biman Bangladesh Airlines is all set to resume its Dhaka-Delhi flights on Monday (May 13) nearly five year after its last fight to the neighboring country’s capital.
The flight will be operated on Saturday, Monday and Thursday. It will depart at 3:00pm and reach Delhi at 5:20pm local time. The return flight will take off from Delhi for Dhaka at 6:20pm (Indian local time), reads the statement.
Biman General Manager (public relations) Shakil Meraj said the national flag carrier will use a 162 seated Boeing 737-800 aircraft on this route.
Of which, 150 are economy class seats and 12 business class, he added.
The national flag carrier has announced a 15 percent discount on the airfare till May 30.
Ticket fare of an economy class seat on the Dhaka-Delhi-Dhaka flight has been fixed at minimum $300 excluding tax.
With the fight resumption, Biman becomes the sole airline to operate direct Dhaka-Delhi flights.
Earlier, the Air India and the Jet Airways used to operate direct flights.
Biman had been operating flights to Delhi since 1980s with it last flight took off on Aug 23, 2014.
At present, Biman has 13 aircraft, including two Boeing 787 Dreamliners in its fleet and is expected to add two Boeing 737s this year.
