Bangladesh to move UN resolution on Bangabandhu’s birth centenary

BANGLA TRIBUNE/Sazzad HossainThe government will take an initiative to move a resolution at the United Nations on the occasion of the birth centenary celebration of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen.
The minister came up with announcement at the first meeting of the International Programme and Communication Sub-committee of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee at the foreign ministry on Thursday (Apr 18), BSS reports on Friday citing an official release.
The minister said steps will also be taken to present the Bangladesh’s foreign principle ‘Friendship towards all, malice to none’, enunciated by Bangabandhu, across the world.
Momen, also the sub-committee convener, said a ‘Bangabandhu Institute’ should be established to uphold the history and works of the Father of the Nation before the world.
Former Foreign Minister AH Hahmood Ali, chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on the Foreign Ministry Faruk Khan, Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, former chief information commissioner Mohammad Zamir, former principal secretary to the Prime Minister Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, former foreign secretary Mohiuddin Ahmed, painter Hasem Khan and other members were present at the meeting.
Members of the sub-committee highlighted different aspects of the elaborate programmes taken for celebration of birth centenary of Bangabandhu.
They suggested introducing an international award next to Bangabandhu and setting up ‘Bangabandhu Chair’ in different countries.
