Two more killed in anti-drug crusade

ShootoutTwo alleged drug dealers were killed in Jashore and Madaripur on Wednesday night amid the on-going anti-narcotics drive across the country.
The death incidents took place during ‘gun battles’ among the rival groups of ‘drug peddlers’ and with police, the lawmen claimed.

Jashore

An unidentified person, 30, was killed in an alleged shootout between two rival groups of drug peddlers at the Amtala neighbourhood of Bagharpara Upazila on Thursday, said police.
The deceased was a ‘drug trader’, claimed police.
The law enforcers found the body after the ‘gunfight’ and rushed to the hospital, said Sub-Inspector of Police Nasirul Huq Khan.
The victim was died before getting into the Jashore General Hospital, said the duty doctor of emergency department M Abdur Rashid.
Police seized three kilograms of cannabis and firearms from the spot.

Madaripur

Bacchu Khalifa, 45, another alleged ‘drug trafficker’ was killed in a ‘shootout’ with police on the wee hours of Thursday.
The incident took place in Shmbhuk river area in Shibchar Upazila around 4 am, said Superintendent of Police Md Sarwar Hasan.
Bacchu was named in 13 cases with police, he added.
The law enforcers found firearms and drugs from the scene.
