Banani fire: Govt releases details of 25 dead victims

A building is seen where a fire broke out in Dhaka, Bangladesh, March 29, 2019.The massive fire at Banani’s multi-storied FR Tower on Thursday (Mar 28) has killed 25 people so far.
Among them, 24 bodies have been released to the respective families, Gulshan police Deputy Commissioner Mostak Ahmed told the media around 9.30am on Friday (Mar 29).
Those identified are:
1. Seyada Amina Yeasmin, 48, daughter of Sayed Mohiuddin Ahmed, from Rampasa village in Moulvibazar’s Kamalganj Upazila. The body was kept at Apolo Hospital.
2. Md Monir Hossain Sarder, 52, son of late Motahar Hossain Sarder, from Uttar Kurapur village in Barishal’s Bimanbandar Thana. The body was kept at Apolo Hospital.
3. Md Maksudur Rahman, 32, son of late Mizanur Rahman, from Alamganj in Dhaka’s Gendaria. The body was kept at Apolo Hospital.
4. Md Abdullah Al Mamun, 40, son of late Alhaz Abul Kashem, from Baluyadanga village in Dinajpur’s Kotoyali Upazila. The body was kept at Apolo Hospital.
5. Md Mostafizur Rahman, 36, son of late Abdul Rashid Munshi, from Chatra village in Rangpur’s Pirganj Upazila. The body was kept at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
6. Md Mizanur Rahman, from Kodla village in Khulna’s Terokhada Upazila. The body was kept at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
7. Florida Khanam Poli, 45 daughter of Yousuf Osman. From Rupnagar Housing in Dhaka’s Rupnagar. The body was kept at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
8. Ataur Rahman, 62, son of late Habibur Rahman, from Tajmahal Road in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur. The body was kept at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
9. Md Rezaul Karim, 40, son of Nazmul Hasan, from Dokkhin Nagda village in Chandpur’s Matlab Upazila. The body was kept at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
10. Ahammed Jafor, 59 son of Hazi Helal Uddin, from Nabinagar in Narayanganj’s Nabinagar. The body was kept at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
11. Jebunnessa, 30, daughter of Abdul Wahab, from Laxminarayanpur in Noakhali’s Begumganj Upazila. The body was kept at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
12. Md Salauddin Mithu, 25, son of Md Samsuddin, from Modhubagh in Dhaka’s Mogbazar. The body was handed over to victim’s father from Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka without autopsy.
13. Nahidul Islam Tushar, 35, son of Md Ishak Ali, from Bhanuabaha in Tangail’s Mirzapur. The body was handed over to victim’s uncle, Md Abul Hossain, from Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka without autopsy.
14. Tanzila Mouli, 35, daughter of Md Masudar Rahman, from Santahar in Bogura’s Adomdighi. The body was handed over from Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
15. Md Parvez Sazzad, 46, son of late Nazrul Islam Mridha. From Balugram in Gopalganj’s Kashiani. The body was handed over from Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
16. Hirosh, 35, from Bignabazar, Sri Lanka. The body was handed over from Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
17. Md Iftekhar Hossain Mithu, 37, son of Ishak Ali, from Baniyapara in Kushtia’s Kumarkhali Upazila. The body was kept at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
18. Sheikh Zarin Tasnim Bristi, 25, daughter of Mozayedul Islam,. From Jashore’s Bejpara. The body was kept at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
19. Md Fazle Rabbi, 30, son of Md Johurul Haque, from Bhuighar village in Narayanganj’s Fatullah Upazila. The body was kept at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
20. Atikur Rahman, 42, son of late Abdul Quader Mirza. From Soilpara in Shariatpur’s Palong Thana. The body was kept at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
21. Anjir Siddique Abir, 27, son of Abu Bakkar Siddique, from Lalmonirhat district’s Patgram Thana. The body was kept at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
22. Abdullah Al Faruque, 62, son of Mokbula Ahmed, from Purba Bogaib in Dhaka’s Demra. The body was kept at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
23. Rumki Akhter, 30, wife of Maksudur Rahman, from Nilphamari’s Joldhaka. The body was kept at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
24. Md Monjur Hasan, 49, son of late Monsur Rahman, from Naoga’s Boayalia. The body was kept at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
25. Amir Hossain Rabbi, 29, son of Aiyub Ali, from Charpara village in Pabna’s Ataikula. The body was kept at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The fire broke out at the multi-storey ‘FR Tower’ on the Kamal Ataturk Avenue in the upmarket commercial area in Dhaka’s Banani around 1pm on Thursday (Mar 28).
It took over twenty firefighting units over six hours to douse the flame.
Members of Army, Air Force, Navy, police, RAB, Red Crescent and many other volunteers worked with Fire Service units to put the fire out.
