This is his first trip after taking oath on Jan 7.

He will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with leading Bangladesh delegation at the fifth Joint Consultative Commission (JCC) meeting.

He is scheduled to meet Modi Thursday morning while the JCC meeting will be held on Friday.

Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj is another co-chair of the meeting where three to five memorandum of understanding are expected to be inked.

A foreign ministry official said, “We have cooperation and signed instruments in almost all areas and now what we need is quick and effective implementation of those.”

This is one of the priorities of the foreign policy related to South Asia, he said.

It would not be a surprise if a top political level visit is discussed in the meetings, he said.

Meanwhile, in reply to a question on how much Rohingya issue will get importance in the trip, Momen said, “It will get immense priority.”

Agenda

The two foreign ministers will discuss the entire gamut of bilateral issues where political relationship, trade and investment, power, energy, development cooperation, people-to-people contact, shipping, security and defence cooperation, border management and issues will get priorities.

An official said, “The relevant officials are accompanying the minister to assist him.”
