HC set to hear Aug 21 grenade attack case appeals

Investigators said 13 to 14 grenades were detonated on the day.The High Court on Sunday (Jan 13), said that it is set to hear the death reference and appeals in the Aug 21 grenade attack case.

The bench of Justice Enayetur Rahim and Mostafizur Rahman passed the order on Sunday (Jan 13).

Assistant attorney general Yusuf Mahmud Morshed represented the State while no counsels moved for the accused.

Earlier, on Nov 27, 2018, voluminous records of the two Aug 21 attack cases, including its judgments reached the relevant unit of the High Court.

The 37,385 pages records include 369 and 356 pages long verdict.

On Oct 10, 2018, a Dhaka court sentenced former BNP ministers Lutfuzzaman Babar and Abdus Salam Pintu and 17 others to death for their role in the 2004 attack.

BNP acting chief and Khaleda Zia’s son Tarique Rahman is among the 19 people sentenced to life in prison over the assault that left 24 dead and hundreds injured.
