‘Don’t let heat of electioneering disrupt polls atmosphere’ FILE PHOTOChief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda has instructed magistrates to maintain election atmosphere and not let it interrupt due to heat of electioneering.
“The heat of electioneering has already spread. But, be watchful so that the heat does not make the polls atmosphere heated,” Huda said told the magistrates on Tuesday (Dec 11)
Briefing the magistrate at the city’s Nirbachan Bhaban, the CEC said, “Once there was an invisible artificial wall between the judges and general people that had no necessity.
“Magistrates’ polls-time duty will somewhat diminish the wall,” he said.
Huda said, “Our duty in only for Dec 30, the voting day.
“Our aim is to maintain a fair ballot casting and ensure no conflict or misunderstanding. We have to make sure that everyone follows the electoral code of conduct,” he added.
The EC boss asked the magistrates to exercise their power as much as it’s necessary to ensure a fair election.
