EVM exhibitions in eight regions on Saturday

EVMs have been used in some polling stations in local government elections. File photoThe Election Commission (EC) has organized exhibitions on using Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in eight regions across the country ahead of the upcoming national polls.

The exhibitions, open for voters of respective areas, are being held on Saturday (Oct 27) in Khulna, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Faridpur, Chattogram, Sylhet, Mymensingh and Cumilla.

Regional Electoral Officer of Cumilla Md Dulal Talukder said that exhibitions in the region will be held in six districts— Cumilla, Brahminbaria, Chandpur, Noakhali and Feni where the voters will get to learn about electronic voting.

In Faridpur, Electoral Training Institute Director Md Farhad Hossain will enlighten the voters with a presentation on EVMs, said officials.

Faridpur Upazila Election Official Md Nur Anim said that voters will be shown how to register a vote using the computer, control unit and ballot unit.

Around 4200 voters will be able to cast test votes in the exhibition, added Amin.

Khulna Regional Electoral Official Md Yunus Ali said, “The goal of this initiative is to create awareness where the EVM voting demo will be held in an election-like environment.”

Mymenshing Regional Electoral Offcial Md Israil Hossain told Bangla Tribune that 4500 voters in that region will take part in this demo voting.
