President M Abdul Hamid left Geneva on Friday for Dubai en route home wrapping up his five-day official visit to Switzerland to attend the summit of World Investment Forum -2018, reports BSS.
An Emirates flight, carrying the President and his entourage members, departed Cointrin Airport, Geneva, at about 3.15 pm local time (BDST 7.15pm).
Bangladesh Ambassador to Switzerland and Permanent Representative to the UN Office Shameem Ahsan and representatives from the Cantonal Government of Geneva and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) saw the President off at the airport.
The flight is scheduled to reach Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at 11.45 pm local time.
After making over two-hour stopover in the UAE’s largest and populous city, the President will leave Dubai for home at 2.00 am local time (BDST 12am Friday night) by Emirates Flight No EK 582.
The flight is scheduled to reach Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 8.30am (BDST) on Saturday (Oct 27).
President Hamid took part in the inaugural session of the five-day summit of the World Investment Forum 2018 held on Oct 22-26 at Palais des Nations in Geneva, the United Nations Headquarters in Europe and a global hub for diplomacy and banking, under the theme “Investing in Sustainable Development”.
He delivered his speech in the Global Leaders Investment Summit putting emphasis on the right investment in human capital, their education and skilled development.
He also exchanged views with the world leaders and representatives of the participating countries in the investment forum.
The President also gave a patient hearing to the expatriate Bangladeshis and business community leaders in Switzerland at his Place of Residence here. He enquired about their wellbeing and asked to work for the country upholding its image.
On the sidelines of the summit, President Hamid also delivered his speech on ‘The hardening of international relations: A risk to peace and security’ at the opening session of the 20th Homeland and Global Security Forum at Plenary Hall at the Grand Hotel Kempinski here on Thursday.
In his speech, he highlighted the Rohingya crisis, terrorism, cyber security, climate change impacts on the bio-diversity, preparedness for natural disasters and some other global issues, specially peace and conflicts.
The President left Dhaka for Geneva on Oct 21.
