Relatives of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia have met her at the old jailhouse in the capital’s Nazimuddin road .
Jailer Mahbubul Islam told Bangla Tribune that Khaleda Zia’s relatives including her sister met her on Friday.
Khaleda’s brother Shamim Iskander, sister in law Kaniz Fatema, nephews Avik Iskander and Anik Iskander, sister Selima Islam, nephew Dr Mamun were the six relatives who met her, BNP sources said.
A three-time prime minister Khaleda Zia is serving a five-year prison term since Feb 8, when a Dhaka court convicted her of embezzling foreign donations made to the Zia Orphanage Trust.
The BNP, however, describes the charges against the party chief as a politically motivated attempt to shut her out of the upcoming national election.
