Bangladesh Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali has met his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj on Friday after attending former Indian premier Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s funeral in New Delhi.
A statement by the foreign ministry said that Swaraj appreciated Bangladesh foreign minister travelling to the India capital for the funeral.
It said both of them recalled their association with Vajpayee during the talks.
“They also expressed satisfaction on regular high level engagements among the leaders of the two countries and hoped to meet each other in other Forums as well,” reads the statement.
Earlier, the Foreign Minister Ali personally conveyed the deep condolences of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Indian leadership at the cremation ground.
Bangladesh High Commissioner Syed Muazzem Ali accompanied the foreign minister at the funeral and the talks with Swaraj.
