Govt buys land in Jeddah to build mission.The government has acquired 2.55 acres (10,300 sq meters) of land in Jeddah to provide better service to the expatriate Bangladeshis working in Saudi Arabia.
The current Jeddah mission will be relocated to the new place when a modern, multi storied building will be built there.
According to Saudi Gadget newspaper, the new location is easily accessible not only from Jeddah but also from the other cities as it is situated at the junction on Armul highway.
Bangladesh Consul General to Jeddah F.M Borhan Uddin signed the agreement on behalf of the government on Saturday.
After signing the agreements, Bangladesh Ambassador to Riyadh Golam Moshi told the Saudi Gadget, “We are committed to improve our services for the Bangladeshi communities in Saudi Arabia under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“The acquisition of the land is a token of commitment that reflects the strong ties between the two countries.”
The ambassador has also confirmed that blueprints for the building will be finalised soon and construction will begin within a year.
Joint Secretary of Finance Ministry Shamsul Alam and Director General of Foreign Ministry Jahangir Alam were present during the signing ceremony.
