I will advise Khaleda Zia with international law: Alex Carlile to Bangla Tribune

Alex Carlile, Baron Carlile of BerriewTop British lawyer Alexander Charles Carlile, Baron Carlile of Berriew, was appointed as a counsel for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Tuesday.
In response to a query of Bangla Tribune, Baron Carlile of Berriew wrote in an email: “I have been appointed as one of the counsel for Begum Khalida Zia. I shall be advising upon the compliance of the proceedings against her with international rule of law and standards, and upon general criminal law aspects.
You might like to note that I was recently appointed as the Chairman of the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative UK (CHRI), which is taking a close interest in issues of judicial independence and separation of powers in Bangladesh. These are close interests of mine.”
