Grammy award winning singer Adele has separated from husband Simon Konecki, three years after the pair wed in a secret ceremony.

In an emailed statement to the Associated Press, representatives for the British singer said “Adele and her partner have separated.”

BuzzFeed reports, the pair who are parents to 6-year-old son Angelo, have asked for privacy moving forward saying that “there will be no further comment” and affirming their commitment to “raising their son together lovingly.”

The 30-year-old singer married Konecki, a social entrepreneur, in 2016 after five years of dating.

Following months of speculation, Adele confirmed their marital status during her acceptance speech at the 2017 Grammy Awards where she said: “Grammys, I appreciate it. The Academy, I love you. My manager, my husband and my son — you’re the only reason I do it.”

The announcement of the split comes weeks after the singer was spotted entering a recording studio in New York City last month, prompting speculation that a new album is in the works.

The singer's debut album, 19, marked the start of her meteoric rise which has delivered three consecutive number one albums including the best selling album of 2015 with the record breaking 25.

Konecki is the co- founder of Life Water, an eco-friendly brand of water that also funds clean water projects across the globe through charity partner, Drop4Drop.
