Actress Nawshaba Ahmed, accused of spreading rumours on social media during last year’s road safety movement, has been granted permanent bail.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Didar Hossain granted her bail plea on Tuesday (Jan 15).

The court has also fixed Mar 3 for the probe report filing as the case’s investigation officer failed to produce the report on Tuesday.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Nawshaba in a case filed under the Information and Communication Technology Act on Aug 4, 2018.

During last year’s protest for safer roads started by school children, Nawshaba went live from her profile on Facebook claiming two students have been killed in a clash that broke out at the capital’s Zigatola. 

She has been grilled in two phases before securing bail before Eid-ul-Azha.
