Celebs to campaign for Awami LeagueAs part of a strategy to woo voters, the ruling Awami League has planned a star-studded charm offensive.
A host of celebrities, including actors and singers, will start campaign for the ruling party from next week, its Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary Hasan Mahmud said on Wednesday.
“The celebrities will start campaigning soon. We will make some TVCs (television commercials), which they will campaign through the social media,” he told a media call at the party chief’s Dhanmondi offices.
Movie actor Ferdous said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s re-election was imperative for keeping up the pace of the development. “We will dedicate ourselves for her.”
The people in Bangladesh want the pro-Liberation forces at the helm, said actor Riaz.
“We urge the young voters to cast their ballot for the pro-Liberation forces ... We don’t want this country turn into something like Afghanistan or Somalia,” he said.
TV actor and director Jahid Hasan said that Bangladesh is now a confident nation only for the Awami League.
“Whenever we go abroad, we proudly say that our prime minister has taken the country forward. We are in a journey and we want to reach to a better destination. We are with boat (Awami League’s polls symbol).”
