Several persons from the entertainment industry have taken AL nomination forms. Of the noted are famous actor of the 70s, Faruk, minister of the current government Tarana Halim, singer Momtaz, actor Shakil Khan, celluloid villain Dipjol, actress Rokeya Prashi and others.
Well known actor, Faruk, took a nomination form hoping to be given the nod for Gazipur-5 election. While taking the form, he was accompanied by other actors and many supporters.
“Kaliganj is my own area and I am confident of winning.”
My link to the area goes back 400 years, there are three families in this area with a long ancestral line, Isha Kha, Bhaoal and Pathan and I belong the last, added the actor who is known for his forthright and confident demeanour.
Previously, Tarana Halim was selected from the reserved women seat but this time she will compete from Tangail-6.
Folk music queen Momtaz also bought nomination paper and has desire to compete from Manikganj-2 (Singair-Harirampur).
Actor Shakil Khan hopes to get the chance to compete from Bagerhaat-3 while celebrated film villain Dipjol bought nomination paper for Dhaka-14 (Mirpur).
Interestingly, in 1994, Dipjol was the BNP ward commissioner for ward number 9.
Noted theatre actress, Rokeya Prachi, bought nomination paper for Feni-3. She is also the cultural secretary of central women’s AL.
